March 2008

We took Kaira and Lokei to the Bunny Hop - an event hosted at a local park featuring an easter egg hunt and a plethora of other activities to choose from, including various jump castles, a live band, animal balloons, face painting, etc....

In the first picture, they are lined up waiting for the Easter egg hunt to begin (Lokei was too excited to turn to face the camera). What you see behind them in the picture is an entire football field covered with literally hundreds of eggs. Kaira paced herself and selectively picked eggs she thought were pretty. They mentioned before the event began that there was a single golden egg on the field. Lokei refused to pick up any other eggs and spent the entire time determined to find the golden egg, sadly with no luck. So at the end of the event, Lokei was empty-handed and Kaira had a handful of carefully selected (mostly pink) eggs.

The other two pictures are of Kaira playing in the cloud of bubbles from the bubble machine, and of Kaira and Lokei riding the train.

After the Bunny Hop, we took Kaira and Lokei downtown to eat lunch and wander around. In front of on of the buildings are a series of water fountains that shoot water into the air at irregular intervals. Kaira and Lokei got the idea (from some older kids who were doing the same) to attempt to run while the water was down, hoping to time their runs as so not to be caught by the spray mid-sprint. Miraculously, they both left (mostly) dry, but there were a few close calls. Was so funny to watch the look on their faces when they nearly got caught a couple times.

Took Kaira to the dentist for her regular check-up... she did great, the dentist said everything looks perfect, no cavities or problems. We were sent home with a new toothbrush and instructions to keep doing what we're doing.

I had a Friday night off with Kaira, so we did a girls' night out - dinner and a movie. We went to an early showing of Horton Hears a Who on it's opening day, which Kaira loved and I actually quite enjoyed as well. Then we went to dinner at the restaurant I work at (Galatoire's). The chefs took great care of us and kept sending out food. Kaira unknowingly tried oysters (not a big fan of them), and also some souffle potatoes (thin slices of potato that puff up like pillows when you cook them) with bernaise sauce, which she liked. And she got fish and asparagus for her entree. And of course we had to have dessert... a homemade bittersweet choc cake we have with hot fudge poured over the top and some ice cream to go with. Kaira was fascinated with the oyster fork that was set on the table - "Look, a tiny fork! It's my size!"

ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

Kaira and I went down to watch the St. Patrick's Day parade go by. She really started to enjoy it once she figured out the whole catching beads thing (for those not from Louisiana - all floats, not just Mardi Gras ones, involve the throwing of beads). By the end of the morning, she had more than she could keep around her neck.

Kaira and Lokei at the park one day - they decided to make sand angels...

And after the sand angel incident, a bath was definately needed to get the sand out of the hair.

EASTER!

We dyed Easter eggs...

Had an Easter egg hunt...

Had Easter baskets full of goodies...

Wore bunny ears..... had a 'bunny' breakfast (specially requested by the girls)..... and went to church dressed up in pretty Easter dresses.....

And last but not least... some school pictures. The first one is a special optional photo shoot done at the school with live baby bunnies (Kaira loved the bunnies and asked to take one home!). The second set are her usual spring school pictures.
